Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented in-vivo Research Associate II / Senior Research Associate to grow our diverse, innovation-focused CRISPR-X team that pioneers novel gene editing therapies for human disease. As part of CRISPR Therapeutics, a leading gene editing company, the candidate will be exposed to a broad clinical portfolio. The candidate will play an integral role in evaluating and advancing the next generation of genome editing modalities and genetic therapies for a wide range of human indications. The position requires enthusiasm, passion, excellent in-vivo animal skills, attention to detail, and a desire to create new medicines for patients.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for in-vivo research and execution across our next-generation modalities, covering hepatic and extra-hepatic target tissues. Design, execute and interpret in-vivo research pertaining to discovery pipeline and preclinical projects.
- Conduct hands-on research requiring in-vivo biology methods including generation, breeding, and maintenance of genetically engineered mouse models; intravenous tail-vein injection and animal surgery techniques; assessment of biomarkers and editing outcomes; longitudinal study of animal health, disease markers, and phenotypic assays; post-mortem preparation of tissue sections and IHC.
- Maintain lab notebooks and data in a highly organized manner.
- Analyze and present experimental data within the CRISPR-X team and cross-functionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS in Biology, Veterinary Science or related discipline
- Experience:
- Research Associate II – 2 to 4 years of relevant research experience or 0-2 years with advanced degree
- Senior Research Associate – 5 to7 years of relevant research experience or 2-5 years with advanced degree
- Excellent technical skills for rodent (mouse and rat) in-vivo work comprising but not limited to IV injections, survival blood collection techniques, necropsy and tissue collection.
- Understanding of rodent (mouse and rat) in-vivo techniques ranging from surgical procedures on neonates to physiological and pathological assessment of diseased adult rodents.
- Familiarity with in-vivo gene editing, including applying and developing next generation gene editing technologies, such as prime editing, base editing, recombinases and retrotransposons, in an academic and/or industry setting.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to partner well with team members cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in advanced in vivo techniques such as hepatectomies, liver perfusion and hepatocyte isolation, lung function assays and pre-natal treatments.
